Using the Agilent 83433A

Performing a Quick Confidence Check

This procedure verifies the basic functionality of the lightwave transmitter.

The following equipment is used:

• Agilent 83433A lightwave transmitter

• Pattern generator

• Clock source

• Optical multimeter

Connect the equipment as shown in Figure 2-1.

Turn on the Agilent 83433A and let it warm up for 30 minutes.

Turn on the pattern generator and clock source and let them warm up

according to their specifications.

Connect the output of the clock source to the clock input of the pattern

generator.

Note

Before starting be sure to clean all connectors and optical interfaces using the proce-

dures describe in “Cleaning Connections for Accurate Measurements” on page 3-6.
